The European Union (EU) Competent Authorities for Medical Devices (CAMD) project was established to enhance collaborative working, communication and surveillance of medical devices across Europe. CAMD is an umbrella group, under which the national competent authorities in the EU work to enhance the level of collaborative work in what is a single market for medical devices.
With the new year approaching, CAMD were looking for a modern website rebuild to bring thier existing Drupal website up to date and enhance their internal network using more recent technologies. Through multiple design meetings and careful innovative blueprinting, we were able to bring this outdated project to life by strategizing an efficient plan, from start to finish. The overall goal was to replicate the existing data in a new bespoke internal platform with a refreshed public front-end.
The development team at Juicy Media chose to use WordPress as the core CMS for this build, due to its extensive third party library which would later be used to construct CAMD’s essential functionality. We were initially able to speed up the time of this project dramatically through working simultaneously on the new UI/UX designs and the core functionality. Whilst the design team were busy conceptualising the new interface, Juicy development were able to really focus on how we were going to use WordPress to our advantage and deliver the fundamentals that the client was hoping for.
We then went on to build the platform using the latest technologies to provide the perfect solution. This included scaleable features such as; user profile management, custom user groups & restricted content, collaborative document handling, internal messaging and a bespoke user dashboard interface. After then implementing the newly finished designs to improve the overall look and feel of the build, we conducted multiple stages of user testing to ensure it was running smoothly across all devices.
As a result of our calculated approach to this work, CAMD are now able to internally manage their documents and members effectively, all from one management system.
