"Often when developing web applications we get asked for what appears to be a simple request but on examination turns out to an impossible task to implement using standard HTML controls. This is because most clients and users don’t understand that standard web pages have “limited” feature set and complete lack of UI consideration; but then again HTML is over 15 years old." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTML
ExtJs
Using ExtJS it’s possible to extend standard HTML controls with a whole array of unique widgets that provide real user interaction on a scale that has never been seen before. What makes ExtJS particularly useful is its extensive cross browser support (Firefox, Safari, Opera and even Internet Explorer 6 and above). We’ve compiled a few examples that demonstrate the functionality of ExtJS (courtesy of RokBox, the Joomla mambot):

- Grid view with basic grouping capability
- Drag and drop folder trees
- AJAX and XML forms
What we can determine from the examples shown above is that through careful design and implementation we can make extremely cutting-edge Web 2.0 applications. Not only can ExtJS be used to create custom web applications, it’s also easy to integrate into existing sites; as you can see we’re running these examples within a Joomla! environment. If you believe that your existing website or proposed development project requires such features, please contact one of our technical teams and we’d be happy to work with you on mapping your requirements to the available features in ExtJS.
Backbase

For many web development companies, being asked to create a bespoke web application is a simple matter of using age-old techniques and technology that has been around for the past 15 years. Here at Juicy Media we understand that web development is a forever changing environment, and that simply replicating existing mechanisms for web content delivery is not always appropriate.
The Backbase Client Framework has been an essential development tool that has enabled us to offer rich user interfaces for our bespoke web-based database and management information systems. We’ve got a proven track record of successfully translating existing MS Windows based applications to web-based equivalents.
Not only does the Backbase Client Framework provide us with an enterprise grade development framework, using the latest Eclipse based editing tool “Telemon” its possible to create rich web interfaces using standard RAD (rapid application development) techniques.
We’ve prepared a few example images courtesy of one of our largest automotive-based MIS clients:
ZendFramework
From the early stages of its release as a Beta, Juicy Media has been actively involved with and supportive of the Zend Framework project. Having a strong and structured development environment is essential to any project, providing a platform that is both scalable and also that allows the reuse of production quality library code. Utilising the defacto standard MVC (model, view and controller) application flow, we can guarantee that any bespoke development will be portable and understandable by any subsequent development team.
SymfonyFramework
Standard web development processes often follow a CRUD based process flow. CRUD provides the structure for creating, reading, updating and deleting different forms of data. In the many years that Juicy Media has been involved with web development, most of the bespoke web-based projects have required extensive development reproducing this functionality. As a result we have made it our goal to reduce repetitive development and implement as much code-reuse as possible.
From our requirements for a structured and scalable PHP framework, we discovered the advantages of using the Symfony Framework. Mainly for its compatibility with most of the available databases engines, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server. Additionally, it automates common tasks so that as developers we can focus entirely on the specifics of the application. The end result of these advantages means there is no need to reinvent the wheel every time a new web application is built. So, given a clients requirements we can utilise the Symfony Framework’s extensive PHP5 libraries to rapidly create complex web applications within extremely tight project deadlines.
