whymigrate
Why should you migrate from Joomla 1.0.x?
securityrisk
As of the 22nd of July 2009, the Joomla team will no longer be supporting Joomla version 1.0.x. Up until this date, security upgrades will be actively available, but beware, after this date you may find your Joomla 1.0x becomes more susceptible to online threats. For any one serious about their web presence, security is a crucial consideration.
morefunctionality
With the advent of the more powerful Joomla 1.5.x, more and more developers have been involving themselves in the Joomla community, leading to an influx of new extensions, plug-ins and thus increased functionality. Take advantage of the massive improvements made to the Joomla platform in its latest guise, don’t get left behind.
whatdoesmigratinginvolve
Migrating from Joomla 1.0 to 1.5 depends on the complexity of the individual site.
- First a back up copy of your site is created and held on one of our secure server platforms.
- Next a Joomla 1.5 installation is created and the old website content is transferred into the new site. Using migration software we are able to preserve old menu structures, and functionality is replicated on the new site.
- The next stage is to replicate and replace the old Joomla 1.0 Template/CSS with a new version. This can involve simply an upgraded template or a new template design.
- Updated Joomla 1.5.x versions of the extensions or plug-ins will now be installed.Once the installation is complete a comprehensive test of the site will be undertaken to make sure the site is functioning as it should be.
- Once you are happy with the upgrade, we will then return the site back to its original hosting environment. Migration is complete.
costandtimescales
The cost and time scales for a migration vary greatly and depend on the complexity, size and functionality of the site in question. The process will take longer if there are lots of extensions and bespoke customisations of the site.
As a guide, a simple site should take approximately 1 to 1.5 days to migrate successfully. However a full assessment of your site will be made prior to any agreements to proceed, and a suitable timescale will be assigned.
Our day rate is £395
A simple update should cost between £395 and £600.
Why not take the opportunity to explore an updated look for your website now. Chances are your Joomla 1.0 site is looking tired and out of date, with an upgrade to 1.5 you could enjoy a whole host of new and improved visuals.
